About This Plant
New for 2027, Moongate Mocha™ Clematis brings dramatic color to the garden with rich burgundy-purple foliage and an abundance of soft satin-pink flowers in spring. This vigorous vine quickly climbs trellises, arbors, fences, and other garden structures, creating a striking contrast of dark foliage and delicate blooms. A beautiful choice for adding height, movement, and a little drama to the garden.
Planting & Care
How to Plant
Choose a spot with 6+ hours of direct sun. Plant 2–3 in deeper than it sat in the pot to encourage extra shoots. Give it a trellis or support, and shade the roots with mulch or low plants. Water deeply after planting and add 2–3 in of mulch, keeping it off the stems. Hardy in USDA zones 5-9.
Watering & Feeding
Water deeply 1–2 times a week for the first season, about 1 in per week. Keep soil evenly moist, especially during heat and dry spells. Feed once in early spring with a slow-release shrub fertilizer.
Pruning & Seasonal Care
Pruning depends on the clematis type; check the plant tag. If unsure, trim lightly after flowering. Mulch in late fall to protect roots through the first winter.
