About This Plant
New for 2027, Graceful and airy, Mist in Motion Moor Grass brings movement and soft texture to the garden with its arching, fountain-like form. Slender green foliage forms a tidy mound, while delicate flower spikes rise above the foliage in midsummer, creating a hazy, cloud-like effect that catches the light beautifully.
As the season progresses, the airy seedheads persist into fall, adding texture and motion to the landscape before naturally fading in late fall or winter. This low-maintenance perennial is especially well suited to moist, well-drained soils and makes a beautiful accent in borders, containers, or naturalistic plantings.
Planting & Care
How to Plant
Choose a spot with 6+ hours of direct sun. Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot and plant at the same depth it was growing, gently loosening the roots. Water deeply after planting and add 2–3 in of mulch, keeping it off the stems. Hardy in USDA zones 5-9.
Watering & Feeding
Water deeply 1–2 times a week for the first season, about 1 in per week. Keep soil evenly moist, especially during heat and dry spells. Rarely needs fertilizer; a layer of compost in spring is plenty.
Pruning & Seasonal Care
Leave standing for winter interest, then cut back to 4–6 in in late winter before new growth. Mulch in late fall to protect roots through the first winter.
