About This Plant
Boston Ivy is a vigorous climbing vine that clings to walls, fences and stone with no support needed. Its glossy, three-lobed leaves turn brilliant shades of red, orange and burgundy in fall, followed by dark berries the birds enjoy. A classic way to soften walls with lush green.
Planting & Care
How to Plant
Choose a spot with at least 4 hours of sun. Dig a hole twice as wide as the pot, plant at the same depth, and install a sturdy support first. Water deeply after planting and add 2–3 in of mulch, keeping it off the stems. Hardy in USDA zones 4-8.
Watering & Feeding
Water deeply 1–2 times a week for the first season, about 1 in per week. Once established, it's drought tolerant and only needs water during long dry spells. Feed once in early spring with a slow-release shrub fertilizer.
Pruning & Seasonal Care
Prune in late winter or early spring, before new growth begins. Remove dead or damaged branches any time. Mulch in late fall to protect roots through the first winter.
